Overview

  • When creating a presentation it is important not to jump into PowerPoint too quickly
  • First you must plan out your presentation.
  • Planning is best done in a word processor where you can quickly type and move text around as you decide on the grouping of your ideas

Steps to making your own presentation on a topic of your choice or a business proposal

Step 1: Brainstorm ideas in word processor, write down anything that comes to mind

Step 2: Do some research and gather main points in word processer (utilize Internet search or personal knowledge of topic)

Step 3: Organize ideas into main themes in word processor including an overview at the beginning and a conclusion

Step 4: Break down major themes into several thoughts (remember one thought per bulleted item)

Step 5: Rework the wording until you are satisfied with the breakdown in the word processor

Note in this assignment you will be required to hand in your planning in Microsoft Word and the final presentation in PowerPoint

Step 6: Enter information into PowerPoint after choosing an appropiate background, color scheme and creating a master page

Step 7: Add tables, charts, images, sound, video or other elements (where appropriate) that support your ideas

Step 8: Add transitions, timings and custom animation
