Creating Lookups for Inventory:
- You have already completed assignments where an inventory of products and prices was entered into a spreadsheet.
- Lookups are particularly useful when using such inventory listings.
- For example, in a store with a computerized cash register an employee keys in a product code or scans the barcode with a scanner and the name of the product and the price appear on the screen.
- A barcode reader simply scans the barcode on a product which is translated into a number.
- The barcode is acutally a "font". If you change the font of a code of 344499 it becomes

- You can then print the barcode on a label and stick it on products. It is faster to scan a label then to enter the number. It is also more accurate.
- In this particular assignment you will start the creation of a cash register, however it isn't until section 5 that you get into the full programming of a cash register that works similiar to those in stores.
